The third piece in my (TAPA)stry series is entitled, “Global Warming”. In the piece, the foundational fabrics are two different African print fabrics, which I use to depict the night sky, and the vastness of the ocean.

The Polynesian War Vessel, as well as the constellation ‘The Southern Cross’, are each made of Siapo (tapa cloth). The oars are steered by various flags of Polynesian island nations.

Polynesia, along with other island nations globally, are on the front-lines in the war against global warming. Polynesians are a very climate dependent people, as well as our islands are losing viable land mass, as sea levels rise.
